Calla Lily / *Zantedeschia aethiopica* (named after the botanist G. Zantedeschi)
It propagates via thick, tuber-like rhizomes; while these can be planted at any time, spring is the best season. It requires soil that is sunny, light, rich in organic matter, sheltered from the wind, and not overly cold. It blooms for most of the year—except for the period between October and January, when it requires a dormancy phase. It should be cultivated in areas protected from cold northerly winds in Northern Greece, and in semi-shaded locations in Southern Greece.
