Beaucarnea is an evergreen indoor plant featuring a striking trunk and slender, pointed, dark green leaves that arch downwards. It is a hardy, drought-tolerant plant. It is commonly known as “ponytail palm” because its foliage resembles a horse’s tail, or “elephant’s foot” due to its swollen trunk, which stores water to help it survive periods of drought. It is a slow-growing plant that can reach a final height of 2 meters.
- It requires plenty of indirect light. While it can tolerate moderate shade, its growth rate will be slower.
- It prefers regular watering but without excess, as it is susceptible to root rot.
