Calla Lily / *Zantedeschia aethiopica* (named after the botanist G. Zantedeschi)
It propagates via thick, tuber-like rhizomes that can be planted at any time of year, though spring is best. It requires soil that is sunny, light, rich in organic matter, sheltered from the wind, and not overly cold. It blooms for most of the year—from October to January—as it requires a dormancy period of at least two months. It should be grown in areas sheltered from cold northerly winds in northern Greece, and in semi-shaded locations in the south.
