Gladiolus / *Gladiolus grandiflorus* (a name used by Pliny)
It propagates easily via bulbs in the spring. It thrives in rich, light, sunny, and well-drained soil. It grows quite tall and comes in a variety of colors—creating beautiful combinations or contrasts with building facades—and offers a long flowering period.
